I'm a huge fan of James Bond. It's a character that has been around for 50 years, played by five different actors, each bringing their own style and wit to the role. It seems Pierce Brosnan, who plays the role to perfection, in my opinion, only has one more film planned, so I've been giving some thought on who should follow.
Here is the first in a three part series discussing my personal choice for the next James Bond. The second runner-up, my number three choice:
Most of you are saying, "who?", but Buffy/Angel fans know him as Wesley Wyndam-Pryce. Some of you are saying "no!", and those are likely the people watched Buffy, and not Angel.
Although the character of Wesley started as bumbling, a buffoon, and many may remember him that way from the (far more popular) Buffy, on the later years of Angel he is convincingly, well, a badass, which I never would have expected the character to become (a testament to Denisof's acting if ever there was one). Confident, tough, and smart, with the ability to play that self-effacing humor Bond needs, the character has certainly evolved into one at times not at all dissimilar to Bond, and the sheer skill Denisof brings to the role gives me no doubt he'd excel just as perfectly as England's greatest superspy.
As far as the vitals go, he is 6'2", looks good in a suit, and, while there has never been an American actor as Bond, his British accent on Angel sounds perfect to my ears. (The Brits themselves may be more critical, of course.)
The one thing working against him, in my opinion, and the only reason he is at number three on my list, is his age. Denisof looks very young, far younger than the 37 years he has under his belt. Brosnan, to compare, is 50 and looks it, and I feel this fits Bond well. (There is a risk of going too long, of course. Moore played the role until he was 58, which, I feel hurt his later films.)
So perhaps Denisof should be the NEXT James Bond, after the one following Brosnan. Either way, he'd be great in the role, and a true credit to the series.
If not now, I hope one day the world is made aware of that.
I will follow with my #2 and #1 choices shortly. In the meantime, I hope if anyone else has any thoughts on the matter, pop them on here.
You know who would make a great bond villain? Johnny Depp.

Posted by: Kaitlin, September 15, 2003I'm a huge Bond fan and there has only been one true Bond and that was Sean Connery. I think most Bond fans would agree. So as a Bond fan, any actor that is chosen to take over the role will be disappointing to me. I guess I want to see Sean Connery playing the role and I know he is to old now but they can replace him with only one actor that I would swear looks just like him and he's a good actor and the right age. He is also a Scotsmen just like Sean. The only person in the world that can successfully pull of the role is Adrian Paul from the TV series Highlander. Anybody else will be nothing but a disappointment and I believe will fail in the role just like Timothy Dalton did. I guarantee that the Bond industry will be even more successful than with Pierce Brosnan, if they put Adrian Paul in the role. If you don't believe Adrian Paul is the young Sean Connery, just go to his web page (http://www.adrianpaul.net/) and the first picture that comes up will shock you, how much they look alike. Adrian Paul is James Bond!
Posted by: Allen , January 10, 2004I think Clive Owen should be the next Bond.
Posted by: Smith, February 12, 2004I think 'Smith' should read part III.

Just like Roger Moore, Sean Connery,Timothy Dalton, and Pierece Brosnon. I believe Adrian Could do it. I will also like to add is that He Nees Another Oscar for this so I am with you Allen. I love James Bond and ADRIAN PAUL too. Vote for Adrian at adrianpaul.net just easily click on that. :)
Posted by: Christina Dinovo, March 03, 2004YES! YES! YES! Adrian Paul as the next James Bond. I enjoyed the James Bond series of movie when Mr Sean Connery played the role. Adrian is a younger version of Mr Connery. We also could put this connection/comparison:
Posted by: Jenny, May 07, 2004Sean Connery is Scots played James Bond, British Character.
Adrian Paul is Brit played Duncan MacLeod, a Scots from the Highlands to be exact. Mr Connery also played in the 1st movie of Highlander. So how about Mr Paul as Bond.
James Bond needs an actor like Adrian Paul! Someone who will breath not only life--but sex--back into the James Bond Role. This hasn't happened since Sean Connery--and won't happen again if Adrian Paul doesn't get selected as Bond #6!
